Some people may mistake the idea of self-confidence for meaning arrogance, but nothing could be further from the truth. Being self-confident and having a high sense of self-esteem does not mean you are insensitive, or in love with yourself in a narcissistic way. It simply means that you have an innate ability to believe in yourself, get things done, not worry, and bounce back quickly. We should all be striving to achieve this level of mindset, as it will improve your life.
Perhaps some people have had their confidence knocked out of them through various life events, and unfortunately being unconfident will hold you back. If you are too timid to speak up and express yourself, or constantly have that niggling doubt, or you replay every negative comment over and over, you will find it hard to achieve anything. The reality is that this kind of negative mindset can be extremely damaging to the person who suffers from it.
Here are some ways to help you boost your self-confidence:
Everything you want to start in the mind. You have to know how you want to be and see it in your mind’s eyes before it can become a reality. So, take the pro-active choice to see yourself as a confident person who is not plagued by self-doubt. See yourself as a go-getter, as someone who gets things done. Without the ability to conceive a more self-confident you, it will not be attained in reality.
If you start meditating daily you will experience so many psychological benefits such as reduced stress levels and less anxiety. All you need is to find ten minutes to be alone. Just sit in a relaxed position, close your eyes and breathe in deeply through your nose then out through your mouth. Just concentrate on your breathing and allow all your worries to float away. This is a simple meditation technique, but it means you will develop more control over your mind and your thoughts, meaning you will be able to build self-confidence.
Do something that scares you every day
If you are the timid type, talk to that boy or girl in the office that you’ve had your eyes on. Maybe go on holiday on your own. Ride your bike down that hill you thought was too steep. Dare yourself to be more, better. There are so many ways to get out of your comfort zone and make your heart race. If you are afraid of something, face it, It is the only way to win. And once you overcome it, you will feel so much better.
We are all equal
If you do suffer from low self-esteem, you may think that other people are bigger and better than you. This is a fool’s way of thinking. No one is better than you. We are all equal. You need to combat the little devil in your mind and tell it ‘no.’ Have a word with yourself and drag yourself away from a negative way of thinking.
