The Tears You Don’t Cry

Not every wound bleeds where people can see it.

Some pain gets tucked behind composure, responsibility, humor, productivity, and the sentence, “I’m fine.” We learn how to keep moving, how to show up, how to function… and sometimes we become so good at carrying pain that even we forget we are carrying it.

But what we refuse to feel does not simply disappear.

Uncried tears have a way of finding other exits. They can become anger, exhaustion, numbness, distance, sleepless nights, short tempers, or a heaviness you cannot quite explain.

The body and mind have their own ways of asking us to pay attention when the heart has been told to stay quiet.

It took me many years to realize there is strength in endurance, but there is also strength in release.

Crying is not surrender. Grieving is not weakness.

Allowing yourself to feel what hurt you does not mean you are giving the pain more power… sometimes it is how you finally stop giving it a permanent home.

Healing is not always dramatic. Sometimes it is simply giving yourself permission to stop performing strength long enough to be human.

Let the tears come when they need to.

Some things leave us only after we stop forcing them to stay inside.
