[Verse 1]
The alarm went off on Christmas Eve,
The list was a mile long,
The tree was leaning sideways,
And the lights were blinking wrong!
The cookies came out charcoal,
The ribbon wouldn’t tie,
And every time we checked one off,
Two more would multiply!
[Pre-Chorus]
[Brass builds]
Then Grandma started giggling,
And Grandpa grabbed her hand,
And the kitchen turned into a ballroom
With a pots-and-pans brass band!
[Chorus]
[Huge, joyful big band]
It’s the best Christmas yet!
The one we’ll never forget!
With a house full of laughter
And a heart full of love,
It’s the best Christmas yet!
Burnt cookies, crooked tree,
It’s exactly how it’s s’posed to be!
We don’t need a perfect day
To make a memory that stays!
It’s the best! (It’s the best!)
It’s the best! (It’s the best!)
It’s the BEST CHRISTMAS YET!
[Verse 2]
The cousins came at half past three
With presents stacked up high,
The dog ran off with Uncle’s hat,
And a pie went sailing by!
We squeezed fourteen around a table
That was built for six, I swear,
But love’s the only thing that grows
The more you’ve got to share!
[Pre-Chorus]
Then somebody said, “Remember
That Christmas long ago?”
And Grandpa told the story
That we all already know!
[Chorus]
[Full horn section]
It’s the best Christmas yet!
The one we’ll never forget!
With a house full of laughter
And a heart full of love,
It’s the best Christmas yet!
Burnt cookies, crooked tree,
It’s exactly how it’s s’posed to be!
We don’t need a perfect day
To make a memory that stays!
It’s the best! (It’s the best!)
It’s the best! (It’s the best!)
It’s the BEST CHRISTMAS YET!
[Bridge]
[Music drops to soft piano]
Someday the kids will all be grown,
With crooked trees of their own,
They’ll burn the cookies, lose the bows,
And then somebody’s gonna say,
“Remember that one Christmas?”
And they’ll be talking ’bout today.
[Children’s choir, building]
Was it perfect?
(NO!)
Was it crazy?
(YES!)
Would we do it all again?
(YES! YES! YES!)
[Final Chorus]
[Key change, full family choir]
It’s the best Christmas yet!
The one we’ll never forget!
With a house full of laughter
And a heart full of love,
It’s the best Christmas yet!
Burnt cookies, crooked tree,
It’s exactly how it’s s’posed to be!
We don’t need a perfect day
To make a memory that stays!
It’s the best! (It’s the best!)
It’s the best! (It’s the best!)
It’s the BEST CHRISTMAS YET!
[Outro]
[Huge brass finale]
And when we’re old and gray,
We’ll still be singing ’bout today!
It’s the best!
It’s the best!
THE BEST CHRISTMAS YET!
