Time… The Currency with an Unknown Balance

Time is undefeated.

Money and the endeavor for it has many pros and cons, but at least it gives you numbers. You can check an account. You can count what is left. You can make more. Lose some. Save some. Earn some back. Although not easy, the options exist.

Time gives you none of that.

We spend it every day without ever being shown the balance. An hour here. A year there. A decade disappears into work, worry, routine, resentment, distraction, obligations, people we no longer even like… and there is no receipt telling us what remains.

That is what makes time so valuable.

Not because every minute must be productive, but because every minute is unrecoverable.

Rest can be a beautiful use of time. Laughter can be. Working diligently towards your goal can be. Sitting quietly with someone you love can be. Doing absolutely nothing on purpose can be.

There are so many ways we can use our time in a fulfilling manner.

The waste is in spending your life unconsciously.

Make conscious contact with how you spend your time. That means pay attention to the things you spend life’s precious time on.

Be careful what continually receives your hours. Be careful who receives your years. Be careful how much of your life you exchange for things that do not matter to you simply because you became accustomed to paying the price.

When it comes to time, mindfulness matters… Because we are all spending from an account we cannot see.

Use it wisely.
