I can’t even count the amount of times an older person has told me, “You’ve got your whole life ahead of you.” Upon hearing these words intended to provide comforting advice, one can’t help but feel the older person is latently implying that they do not; that they are actually saying, “I’m old now, but you’ve got your whole life ahead of you.”

While it is easy to understand, and even feel, like your glory days have passed, the truth is that no matter how old you are, your life isn’t behind you, your memories are behind you. Your life is always ahead of you. From this moment, right now, you have just as much opportunity as anybody else to make decisions and take actions that will propel you towards the life you want

No matter where you are or what you’re doing, no matter how old you are, or what you’ve been through, no matter how many times you’ve been delayed, hurt, or back-stabbed, please remember that your whole life is ahead of you. What is left behind you are life-moments that have expired; we call them “memories” and they continue to exists in your mind. Your vibrant and enhance-able life is what flows before you now.

Folks, don’t let your expired life-moments nourish your journey of today. It’s easy to tell ourselves a story of disempowerment; that the youth of today are the only ones with their life ahead of them. But the truth is, as we all open our eyes to this new day, we awaken to the same potentiality; the same opportunity to live life to its greatest potential.

How would your life be different if you lived accordingly and stopped telling yourself the lie that your best days are behind you?
