Be the Reason Someone Believes in Goodness

We never really know how close someone is to giving up on people.

Maybe they’ve been lied to too many times. Maybe they’ve been disappointed by the people they trusted most. Maybe life has shown them enough selfishness, cruelty, indifference, or betrayal that they’ve started protecting themselves by expecting less from everyone.

And then you show up… or simply cross paths with them.

Not with some grand gesture. Not with a speech. Maybe you simply keep your word. Maybe you listen without waiting for your turn to talk. Maybe you help when there is nothing in it for you. Maybe you are gentle in a moment when you could have easily been careless.

Maybe even a simple smile or positive comment.

We underestimate how powerful those small moments can be. One decent human interaction can interrupt a long history of disappointment. It can remind someone that kindness still exists… that trust is still possible… that not everyone they meet is going to hurt them.

You may never know when you become that reminder for someone.

Something amazing happens in your life when you hold yourself to a higher standard of outward behavior… You become a light. Try it and you’ll see what I mean. If you’re already doing it, you know what I’m talking about.

Today is a new day… Be the reason someone walks away from an encounter with you thinking, “Maybe there are still good people in this world.”
