How I See You

There are people in our lives who have no idea how extraordinary they are because they can only see themselves from the filters of their doubts, mistakes, unfinished work, days they fell short… and the mean things they have been called.

They live with every insecurity and emotionally damaging scar in high definition.

But the people who love them often see something completely different.

We see the way they light up a room without trying. We see their resilience because we remember what they have survived. We see who they are; not what’s happened to them. 

Sometimes confidence is not something you build alone. Sometimes it begins when someone who loves you holds up a mirror that is kinder and more accurate than the one in your head.

If you could hear the way I talk about you when you are not in the room… if you could see the version of you that exists in the eyes of people who genuinely love you… you might finally understand that you have been underestimating yourself for a very long time.
